A water dragon, not a lemur

This is not what you expect to find in the lemur enclosure.

This shot was taken in the walk-through lemur enclosure in Melbourne Zoo. An enclosure that was devoid of lemurs for most of the path. So I was pleased to see this little fellow. I know he is an Australian water dragon (a lizard), but I cannot tell you which type - it could be an Eastern Water Dragon, or a Gippsland Water Dragon. The funny part is that they were not an intended part of this display, but when it was landscaped and the lemurs arrived, the water dragons moved in. The lemurs and the water dragons get along, and I think the lizards take care of any food the lemurs drop.

This was shot with the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 GM II at 200mm, f/2.8, 1/2000, ISO 320, on the Sony A1. This was a severe crop (from 8740 pixels wide down to 3300), so I’m not going to claim that the A1 nailed focus on the lizard’s eye, but that’s where the image is focused.
