Making a meal of some ribs
This waterbuck was standing still, watching us just as we were watching him. Considering it is a cold winter his shaggy coat seems entirely appropriate.
This image was shot at ISO 1250, f/5.6 (wide open), 1/1000 on the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 GM II with the 2x teleconverter. The focal length in the metadata is reported as 158mm - not far past minimum focal length. I wanted to print this image, so I cropped it slightly from 8640 pixels wide down to 8195. I think reducing the shutter speed and thus dropping the ISO made quite a difference to the image quality; I will remember that for the future. Admittedly, I could have achieved the 158mm focal length without the teleconverter, which might have made for an even sharper image, but this image is sharp enough.
