This is another of a series of articles showcasing pictures taken on the Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 50mm/1:2.0. This time we look at a series of images from this combination shot continuously.

This is another in a series of articles showcasing pictures taken with the Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 50mm/1:2.0 on the Sony A7R IV. This time I’m showing off a sequence of images of a beautiful serval.

I have been to see the serval at Werribee Open Range Zoo again, and I realised that a single still image can’t convey her grace in jumping from one point to another. So I changed to Continuous High drive mode, and shot a sequence of images. This is what happens when the keeper tosses a piece of meat (see the red circle in the first three shots) into a nest.

These images were shot at f/5.6 and between 1/320 and 1/400s. The serval is not razor sharp because she was moving rather quickly, but I feel it contributes a sense of movement to the sequence, rather than detracting from it. The rest of each frame displays the sharpness that this combination can produce.

The originals of these images were cropped from the full frames down to about 5000x3300, then scaled so they’d load fairly quickly on this website. The only other editing was to add the red circles around the piece of meat that the keeper threw.
